Large buffer size is mostly relevant to the drive which holds the media as opposed to the application drive? Is this correct? 2mb and 8mb recommended?

It's all about accessing data.

I have WD 8 mb buffer drive and it seems faster than a 2mb.

But there are other variables, as I understand it.
