firewire hub experiences/recommendations

i have four firewire drives and a dv camera daisy-chained to my g4 desktop fcp set up. for various reasons it would be easier for me to manage this setup if i had a firewire hub. out of superstition i've avoided using them. i'd appreciate it if anyone had experiences to share and, preferably, can recommend a brand (ie: smartdisk, belkin). thanks very much! neil

I had a powered FW hub that I purchased at MWSF two years ago for about $100.00.

To be honest, I used it for a couple months, and then it started exhibiting some quirky behavior. Failure mount, etc.

I no longer use it.

Things may have changed, and you should examine the offerings at FWDepot.com, and other places to see if improvements have been made.
