for information regarding the problem with FW drives and Panther.
They appear to be ones using FW800 Oxford 922 bridges with firmware 1.02.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw links on VersionTracker to download the firmware updates for those FW800 drives that use the Oxford 922.

I think versiontracker had them, but remember that each manufacturer appears to have a unique firmware updater.

Recommend that you don't try and mix and match firmware; could have dire consequences.
Match firmware updater to specific Manufacturer.
The GENERIC firmware updater from Oxford will update any Oxford 922 part found, BUT...
... each manufacturer may have made modifications for their specific implementation. You may lose specific firmware fixes if you don't use the correct update.
A good updater will only update specific drives that are specifically matched.

I see...that's unfortunate. If they only all manufacturer's could use the same firmware updater, then all of us with FW800 drives wouldn't have to wait so long...

If what you wish were true, then there would be no difference from one drive manufacturer to the next.
Not true.
There are differences in bridge implementations, power supplies, cabling, industrial design, compnents used, etc.
And then what happens if something should go wrong?
Unless you know what you are doing, I wouldn't risk using firmware for brand A with bridge for brand B.
Nice way to make a bad situation worse.
