I have a dual 800 G4 with 2 80GB internal drives. One drive is used for capture. Is it possible to add an additional (3rd) IDE drive by using the ribbon connector and power connector used in the superdrive chain?
Thanks, Craig Hollenback

Craig:

I stick with a PCI controller, and an additional drive that way.

Don't know what the bus speed is for that connector, but it might be too slow.

You're going to need another hard drive anyway; why not minimize your risk and spend about $75.00 for a PCI Controller from Sonnet, acard, or someone similar.

I buying a new G4 1.25 dualie and I have a PCI controller from Promax that I used in my
G4 533. It worked great!!! I had four drives in it and the Promax card controlled two of them. I have box and and ribbons. It works great. email me at element@aros.net if interested.

I had a Sonnet ATA100 PCI controller that worked wonderfully with a couple of IBM GXP 120 Gb drives.
