I've got a G5 dual 2.0 that I got preinstalled with the minimum amount of RAM so that I could get 4 Gigs worth of the highest quality 512mb chips. I have been told that there are different qualities of the DDR RAM.

For example OtherWorldComputing.com has "Techworks 1GB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CAS 3.0 Matched Upgrade Pair(512MBx2 Modules)" listed at $219.00. They also have their own brand of 512mb chips "1GB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CAS 3.0 Matched Upgrade Pair(512MBx2)" listed at $175.00. whats up with that?

What is the best 512 meg chip that you can buy? BTW I'm not interested in the 1gig chips because they are a little too expensive. plus how much fun would it be to have all the RAM slots full! /2pop/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hard to really choose "the best."

Among the better RAM companies are TechWorks, Kingston, Viking, Crucial (Micron makes it).

Even Kingston ValueRAM is good. But remember, virtually any RAM stick, even the pricer ones, can go bad.

I like Kingston, but it's a little too pricey for me.

You're right on the price of 1Gb stick; stick with 512 modules, and buy from someone who offers lifetime guarantee.
