I’m buying a G5, but I’m on a students budget (is this an oxymoron?).
I want to get dual displays to improve workflow and make timeline editing more efficient.
There is no way I can purchase the Apple cinema displays that start at 600$. Instead I was going to go with 2 ViewSonic or Mitsubishi Diamond Pros, or something comparable. This way can get 2x19 inches of workspace for less than one Apple 17” flat screen. I figuring I should be saving the money for a true NTSC video monitor or high end deck down the road.
My technical question is what monitor resolution do I really need for these monitors. I will be running mostly Photoshop, aftereffects, and FCP.
These are my choices
Max res. 1920x1440 dot pitch, .21 hor. .25 diagonal, ~250$ (VS)
Max res. 2048x1536 dot pitch, .25 (apeture grill), ~290$ (VS)
Max res. 1920x1440 dot pitch .24 350$ (Lacie- electron blue)
