Hi,
I have a dual 500 G4 w/ 2 x 25 gb internal hard drives. I do projects about 20-30 minutes in length, and often run out of space by the end of the project, even when I am tidying things up like auto saves, render mgr, unused media, etc. I need more space, but I will probably upgrade to a g5 in a year or so, and ideally anything I add now to my system would be able to work with the g5. Anyway, what is the downside of an external fw drive?
Thanks,
Doug

You might want to consider a couple of serial ATA drives with a serial ATA PCI controller.

Try sonnet tech or wiebe tech for information.

The G5s require SATA drives, but can only install one.

FW drives sometimes are quirky, and not certified for use by FCP/Apple; thousands use them without issues. Make certain you use an Oxford bridge set.
