So I'm supposed to start cutting a feature. I have no equipment. I'm going to use FCP4. Which would choose, the G4 1.33 GHz laptop with a second monitor or...the G5 and why?

My thought was that since the G5 is in it's infancy, it's safer to invest in the G4 laptop because it's not going to really develop anymore, plus it recently dropped in price. Price isn't really an issue, because when I do the math for what I need the G5 and the laptop end up being about the same. So consider which is a better investment over time and which is a better machine. Thanks!

Also, can you recommend a FCP color coded keyboard? I know of Logickeyboard and Bella. Any others out there? Which is best?

Thanks again!

Dual processor G5 will really move FCP 4.1 in Panther 10.3.1.

That's my recommendation.

i have both systems (g4 17 1Ghz) and dualG5. Definately go for the G5. Its awesome and FCP4.1 is optimized for G5. FCP4 uses every bit the system. you wont regret it for DV work--and it will preserve your DV investment a lot longer.

I have the PB17" 1GB RAM, unless you plan to be editing onlocations or go get footage from remote locals. Go for the G5. Maybe a $600 realtime SDI card if you can afford it.
