For those of you contemplating doing HD using a SATA RAID on a G5, take a look:

http://www.barefeats.com/hard35.html

The hardware's not quite there yet, but it looks good.

But it looks really good for multi stream SD uncompressed footage though, I think I'l save some cash on my next storage purchase.

I have a question though,

If these pci cards have internal connectors, how do you connect them to an external array ?

How is promax doing it ?

curious

Snake them out a removed PCI card connector out the back of the computer.

Why?

Rob Morgan did exactly the same thing at barefeats.com.

We used do this early on when there was no way to set up an external RAID with SCSI drive.

All external connectors do is create a more elegant solution.

But if you go internal, you're doing exactly thing -- snaking cables from the internal connectors to the hard drives -- just inside the case instead of outside the case.
