Is anyone using an eMac for dv editing? What are the pros and cons-especially re fan noise and crt display? How well does FCP4 run on it?

I am not the most knowledgeable
but I did consider buying an emac
and then decided on a dual G4 1.25
and i am happy with my decision for several reasons:
1. ability to add upto 5 internal ATA drives.. i think you can only use firewire drives with the emac
2. expandability with 4 PCI slots.. i recently added an ATA 133 card with a few internal drives.. I could also add a FW 800 or SATA PCI card in future to keep up with the technology
3. monitor.. as I am editing I realize that a 2nd monitor is absolutely necessary.. i am not sure if you can connect a 2nd monitor to an emac
the bottom line is the dual G4 desktop works for me
you need to acess your situation, what you will be using the machine for, and then make a decision

I understand what you are saying but such a system would be overkill for my needs. A dual 1.8 G5 512/160 system with a 17" monitor would cost me A$5,200. For the same amount of money I can get an eMac 1gig 512/160 SD + FCP4 + DVD Studio Pro 2 + Adobe Creative Suite Premium + Analogue/Digital Converter!

That's why I was interested to find out if anyone on this forum has been editing on the eMac and could give me some feedback on their experience.

Screen size, lack of dual processing support, and requirement of firewire drives are the offsets to lower pricing.
