You shouldn't need to reinterlace chroma and you could do this in QT Pro.

Yeah, looks like someone saved a standard def NTSC clip at an HD size. That's just weird. Yeah, and if it opens in QT and there's no Pro options, I wonder if he has two versions of QT on his system. I'm going to guess he's on 10.6, and going between QT X and QT 7. That's the only way I can figure that happens. Yeah, use QT Pro to save the clip as a standard def NTSC format, very simple. If you have several of them to do, make a Droplet in Compressor.

Oh, just FYI:
Take a picture of the whole screen
Command (⌘)-Shift-3
The resulting PNG file will be on your Desktop

Take a picture of part of the screen
Command (⌘)-Shift-4, and then drag the crosshair pointer to select the area. Continue to press the mouse button, release the keys, and then press Shift, Option, or the Space bar while you drag to resize the selection area. When you are ready to take a picture, release the mouse button.
To cancel, press Escape.

Take a picture of a window or the menu bar
Command (⌘)-Shift-4, press the Space Bar, move the camera pointer over the area to highlight it, and then click.
To cancel, press Escape.

Take a picture of a menu, including the title
Click the menu to display the menu commands, press Command (⌘)-Shift-4, and drag the crosshair pointer over the area.
To cancel, press Escape.

Take a picture of the menu without its title
Click the menu to display the menu commands, press Command (⌘)-Shift-4, press the Space Bar, move the camera pointer over the menu to highlight it, and then click.
To cancel, press Escape.

You can also take pictures of the screen using the Grab application (in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder).

Some applications, such as DVD Player, may not let you take pictures of the screen.

In MPEG Streamclip there was no choice, it was grayed out as checked.

That's weird. Ben, I just copied your very useful info to put in a new Word doc "Screenshots" and it came out all 'y's and other lettters. What's up there, one can't copy text out of 2-pop no more?

Not necessarily. Launch the clip in QT, hit Apple J to show movie properties. Under "video track", "visual settings", what is specified as "normal size"?

If you change the scaled dimensions to 1920x1080, and you hit save, then you bring the clip into FCP, FCP will read it as a 1920x1080 file.

To undo that, hit "reset" in Movie Properties in Quicktime.

Okay, I grabbed your file, and it's 720x480. On a G5 here, running Leopard on FCP 6.0.5. So the file wasn't resized. You can try what I mentioned above and see if that works.

Since putting up the first file I got a new version from the guy and put it up last night so someone on another forum could check it out. It was the right size, but the original file was 1920x1080.

Sorry bout the confusion. I didn't think anyone new would come on board.

Sorry Strypes but in your first post, what are you talking about? The Chroma thing or what?

I was referring to the scaled/display size in Quicktime Player. If that has been changed to 1080, it will cause FCP and the Finder to recognize it as a 1080 file.
