Lighting/Look Development Artist (Vancouver, BC)
Digital Domain is seeking a Lighting/Look Development Artist for its new Vancouver Studio.
Summary:
The Lighting/Look Development Artist will light shots and sequences and may participate in some Look Development. The Artist will work within the lighting and rendering pipeline to see shots through from start to finish as well as assist in defining all the technical and aesthetic aspects needed to create the appearance of a 3-D element.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Creating or modify existing shader parameters, painting, and applying texture maps, or developing other custom software to accomplish the art direction goals of character or environments
•Work with the show supervisors to create final looks and materials for 3D characters and environments to be used in production
•Runs shots under guidance of Key Creatives
•Participates as a team member in determining various design and technical solutions; provides feedback to other team members of the production.
•Create photorealistic CG lighting that meets all technical and aesthetic standards for the project. •Complete tasks within production deadlines while being largely self-directed. •Be able to troubleshoot common rendering and lighting technical issues.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
•A wide range of experience and skills that can be used to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. •3-5+ years experience creating photorealistic lighting for feature films in Maya and Renderman, Mental Ray or Vray. Strong, expert user knowledge of prman, mtor, and slim
•Extensive experience in a wide range of CG Lighting techniques and technical methods. •Must have excellent communication and organizational skills, and must be able to work in a collaborative environment, •Experience rendering large datasets, experience manipulating ribs, and experience setting up Delayed Read Archives.
•Experience with Plug-in Ri Filters a plus.
•Ability to write and apply shaders a plus
•Programming experience (RSL, MEL, Python, C++ a plus) a plus
Salary range is $85,000 - $95,000 CAD
