JOB OPENING: Pipeline Engineer
LOCATION: Venice, California
STATUS: This is a project position
Position Summary:
The Pipeline Engineer participates in a variety of development and support tasks focused on the continued advancement of computer graphics production oriented applications within the studio. From implementing the integration between numerous proprietary and 3rd-party critical path applications to maintaining the facility database infrastructure, the Pipeline Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that all of the technology used in production remains a cohesive whole.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
In general, all engineers are responsible for providing software solutions and support to the internal visual effects productions and artists. This involves strong engineering, problem-solving, and communication skills. Specifically, the responsibilities include:
- Design, implementation, and maintenance of pipeline and production support tools, such as the dailies/media review system, asset and task management systems, and reference art system.
- Collaborate with users and other developers on the integration of the pipeline and production support tools with computer graphics applications.
- Help oversee the setup and maintenance of build environments, release structures and coding standards to be used within the Digital Domain Software Department.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Candidates should hold an advanced degree in Computer Science or related field (BS or MS) or equivalent experience in a high-end production environment.
- Experience in developing database or database-related applications with Python and/or C++ across Unix and Windows environments is required.
- Specifically, experience or familiarity with Shotgun and/or other asset and task management systems is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of at least one database platform out of MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle is preferred.
- Experience in some or all of Ruby web development, Qt user interface development, systems programming, revision control, and automated build systems is also preferred.
