Default FCE/FCP vs. iMovie

hi
i am disappointed at the quality of the video when importing DV into imovie.
basically, i lose a lot of clarity of picture. looks like its out of focus.

the import from the DV camera (Sony) to imovie "Events" looks ok
but when i drop it into the "Project" it loses the clarity. resulting dvd
produced is of poor quality.

i understand that i can expect some degradation using imovie but my question
(finally) is "Will FCE or FCP give me a better quality of final video"

thanks

BB

DV is what it is. If you're working with the proper settings in iMovie and iDVD it shouldn't look much different from what you can do in FCP...

Also depends on whether you are seeing it on a computer display or a TV. Set IM to 'play thru camera' and hook the cam to a TV.
I find iMovie's quality stays the same as what was shot, and iDVD also for 1 hour or less; up to 2 hours long I see some streaking in transitions, etc.

I agree with Noah and gretta. DV can't be improved by using a different editing application.
