unwanted duplicate sequence in timeline (?!)
(I promise this will be one of my last queries -- I just need to finish this project before having a nervous breakdown!) Having combined several sequences in a quasi-final sequence (labeled "final"), and then trying to fix exasperating frame size problems, I have ended up with a mess in which, somehow, there are two (different) versions of one of my sequences in the timeline and the canvas (but not in the browser). I.e, the browser shows only one (it's called "chowtal"), but there are two tabbed versions (i.e., each labeled "chowtal") in the timeline and canvas. I guess I need to get rid of one of them so I can try to fix the frame size problems; I don't know how editing one of these two relates to my "final" composite, and at this point I seem to be just making a bigger mess of a project that was almost finished a few hours ago. I'm grateful for any suggestions.

Pick whatever is the proper output for your project and don't worry about the other. And for next time work harder on your organization. Nesting multiple sequences in FCP is the road to ruin...

now back to frame size problem
Thanks Noah. I managed to get rid of the unwanted extra sequence -- I don't know how! Now I'm back to my frame size issues. This whole sequence (which, like others of mine, combines footage in different aspects from different cameras) is weird -- e.g., in the canvas it has black letter-box etc frames rather than grey (except for one clip that spills out and has no grey or black letter-box areas at all). Plus what I see in this sequence is not the same, frame-wise, as the corresponding section of the "final" composite that contains it. The frame sizes are different; some of them I can live with, but there's a clip (originally widescreen) that has come out shrunken; i.e., in the "final," it has a black frame around it. Not good. How can I restore it to its original size without messing up the frame-sizes in the rest of the sequence? It shows as the "correct" size in the canvas, but not in the "final" composite. I could paste my original clip on the sequence, but it's already "correct"--except in my "final" composite.
If I can solve this problem I will stop being a pest on this site. Thanks again for the help.

Go into each clip's motion tab and reset size, aspect and distortion- the black X buttons.

Thanks, that enabled me to patch it up to a roughly presentable state. It had become the sequence from hell, what with subtitles, lower 3rds, footage from 4 different cameras evidently incorrectly captured... well beyond my technical abilities

Motion Tab Duplication
I have a similar problem and have been going into each motion tab to correct aspect ratio. My question: is there an easier way than going clip by clip? Is there some kind of duplication mechanism that will automate this? I have 150-200 cuts and would prefer to not to change the settings on each one.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

It would help to know complete details of exactly what you're doing and talking about. You might be able to do it simply by using the remove attributes function, or if not that, then applying the correction to one, and using copy and the paste attributes function, but details would help.
