About Pixar Canada
Pixar Canada is looking for a Facilities Manager for its new studio in Vancouver. Pixar Canada is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pixar Animation Studios, the world leader in animated films. The Vancouver studio will produce short-form animation focusing on legacy Pixar characters from films such as Toy Story and Cars. This is an early hire to support the set up, build out, and on-going facilities management at the studio. This is an opportunity to develop and maintain an infrastructure that nurtures and inspires Pixar Canada’s creative culture.
Summary of Position
Reporting to the General Manager, the Facilities Manager will help manage the design, planning, and construction of our new studio space, as well as oversee the maintenance and service requirements for office equipment, HVAC equipment and other facility needs. The Facilities Manager will provide quality service and anticipate needs while being mindful of our fiscal and environmental responsibilities. This is a hands-on role that will have a Receptionist/Office Assistant as a direct report.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- •Plans, budgets and schedules on-going building modifications and maintenance, including estimates on labor, materials and other related costs
- •Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, and facilities expansion, including a large studio build out in the first year
- •Coordinates with architects, construction project managers, building management, and local partners to complete all building projects. Provides basic CAD work for small office configurations
- •Manages day to day facilities tasks including employee related set up, moves and changes
- •Initiates and maintains relationships with vendors and assists in identifying appropriate furniture for the studio
- •Sets up and maintains various service contracts as needed
- •Coordinates space and logistics for special events
- •Designs and develops organizational policies relevant to the facilities department
- •Responsible for establishing and overseeing health and safety standards
Background and Qualifications
- •This role would suit someone who has operated in a Facilities management role and has 5+ years facilities experience in a corporate and/or creative office environment.
- •Experience of managing an office build out and contacts with local vendors would be very advantageous.
- •An understanding of CAD, as well as review of architectural and mechanical drawings.
- •Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- •Willingness to take initiative and resolve problems in a changing and ambiguous environment.
- •Detail oriented while maintaining timeliness and accuracy with high standards for quality.
- •A flexible & proactive style
- •Must be customer service orientated
- •Bachelors degree is preferred
