Default Internal HD

Dear
I'm sure there was already a post about it but I couldn't find...

I need to put 2 Sata HD of 2Tb each in my Mac Pro ( 2 x 2.26 quadcore intel xeon ), somebody has some advice and or some good/bad experience with some manufacturer?

Since I need to keep the old HD I need to remember the name of the Sata-dock, like that when I need to use them I can connect as external drive.

tx for your help

Other World Computing is very reputable, sells good drives. I've gone through many Western Digital drives and never had a bad one, same for Seagate and Hitachi drives.

Just a tip, when I change out my system drive, I put in a new drive, use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone my system drive to the new one. Then yank out my old system drive, move the new drive to the system drive slot, done.

I also use a Wiebetech Ultradock to access old drives of various types. Fantastic piece of hardware!

Default Seagate Drives

I have several seagate drives installed...1 tb and 1.5tb plus a couple of smaller. They have worked flawlessly except once. Lost a 1 tb drive about a year ago. It just stopped functioning. Turned out to be an issue with the controller. Bad news: lost the data on the drive. Good News: had the data backed up. More Good News: Seagate was very responsive and replaced the drive based on their long-term warranty. They even offered to provide a data recovery service (at a price). I decline that because of my backup. Bottom line -- even though I had a problem, the company provided great customer service.

Seagate has been really good for me.

Also Hitachi.
