I had seen the Flanders Scientific monitors at shows and read some fine reports on other forums. I got a very close look at HD Expo held Sept '09 in NY and was totally blown away. Ordered their 17" model (LM-1760W) which I'm running via SDI to the Matrox MXO2 or HDMI->DVI from the Matrox MXO2 MiniMax.
At $2495, nothing can touch this monitor. The 24" version is $4995. I'll be writing some more extensive reviews of the product but wanted to highlight such features as scopes (luminance, vector, RGB parade, YRGB bars), markers, color accuracy and consistency, and with the new firmware, a measurement function which to display luminance values with an adjustable target point.
And speaking of firmware, one of the owners actually came to my home-studio to update the firmware, show me the new features and explain their new firmware update procedure! And that just wasn't because I write-- they are trying to make personal calls on as many customers as possible when they are in a specific area for a show (they were back in NY this week for HD World).
Another new feature is a luminance mask which will provide a color-coded display of dynamic range. This is particularly useful on their new 7" LCD for field use.
They only market direct and you can check out their site at
www.flandersscientific.com
I'll have a more complete product review at some future point (backed up on writing now) but just wanted to start some dialog on the board.
Any other Flanders Scientific users out there?
